Rise and Shine - Remembering Pete Seeger

Wednesday, August 20, 2014 - 10:30am to 11:30am

A fixture on radio in the 1940s, Pete Seeger had a string of hit records as a member of the Weavers before being blacklisted during the McCarthy Era. In the 1960s, he re-emerged on the public scene as a prominent singer of protest music. Musicologist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Mark Dvorak will perform Seeger’s songs and tell stories about him.

Introduce your baby to the sounds and rhythms of language using stories, music, and rhymes. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses and build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading. Each class will end with 1/2 hour of play featuring age-appropriate toys and time for socialization.

Computer Programing with Scratch and PicoBoards

Workshop participants will learn how to create animations, computer games, and interactive projects using Scratch, a graphical programming language. Attendees will be introduced to fundamental programming concepts and learn how to integrate sensors into their Scratch projects. This workshop targets the “A-ha! moment” of DIY electronics and computer programming. This is a drop-off event. No adults, please.
