Rise and Shine - "Give The Lady What She Wants"

Wednesday, February 18, 2015 - 10:30am

Author Renee Rosen discusses her bestselling book, "What The Lady Wants: A Novel Of Marshall Field and the Gilded Age." The book tells the story of Chicago’s Merchant Prince, Marshall Field. Field was a visionary retail tycoon who made his fortune wooing customers with his famous motto: “Give the lady what she wants.” His charm also won the heart of socialite Delia Spencer, which led to their infamous love affair.

From the Great Fire to the World’s Fair, "What The Lady Wants" weaves a tale of robber barons, true love and the founding of the Marshall Field empire. Discover how Marshall Field helped transform Chicago from a frontier outpost into a booming metropolis and the price he paid for his success.
