iRead Kickoff!

On Saturday, January 11, 2014 the library is hosting the iRead (read-a -thon) kick-off in conjunction with the 112 Education Foundation from 9am to 3pm

What better place to kick-off the iRead program than the Youth Services Department with over 60,000 books to choose from? Our staff will be happy to help you choose books or you can just browse on your own. Staff will also be available for library card sign up.

District 112 teachers will read aloud from their favorite books in locations around our department, and several local authors will be here to sign books & talk to you! There are reading-rich activities for you all day! (See author schedule at bottom of this post).

Nationally-known family entertainer Chris Fascione brings children’s stories to life with his high-spirited and innovative performances. Full of energy, humor, and imagination, Chris creates colorful characters through his unique combination of acting, storytelling, comedy, and juggling. Adults and children alike have fun participating in the show. Shows at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.

If you are participating in the Read-A-Thon, stop by the 112 Education Foundation table in the lobby & get your log stamped for 30 minutes reading credit!
