There is no water to be found and all the animals agree that whoever digs to water will be their king. When it is gecko's turn to dig all the other animals all laugh at him and call for him to give up, but gecko won't listen.

When her sire is chased off before she can finish digging Jane up, Jane is left to figure out how she could be a vampire when she's never been bitten and what is she supposed to do now, in this tongue-in-cheek vampire novel.
