In Praise of Used Books
If your holiday shopping list far out measures your budget, the Library is a source of unusual treasure. Used books are available in the lower level lobby (available even during construction) and directly outside the Adult Services Room for purchase at very low prices. Many of the books are very gently used, and you may find just the perfect item for that hard-to-shop-for person on your list. The sale areas are operated by the Friends of the Library and all proceeds benefit library programs.
If you are a crafter in search of an unusual book-related project, check out The Repurposed Library: 33 Craft Projects That Give Old Books New Life by Lisa Occhipinti. Using books and pages as raw material, you can create amazing decorations, lamps, and other accesories. Note: do not use library books - but feel free to browse the used book section for your raw material!
