September is Library Card Sign-Up Month!
"How old you have to be to get a library card?"
Some grown-ups remember a time when you had to be able to write your name (legibly!) to get a library card. One of our librarians' parents said she could get a library card when she could ask for it on her own... and she was so shy it took until she was about seven years old to get her first library card!
But at our library, the rule is that you have to at least be born to get a library card! (Actually, we gerbils would like to point out that you have to be alive and a human to get one.) All you need (if you are a kid) is your parent or guardian with you! (Your parent or guardian will need to have a photo ID and proof of current address.) You can even pick out what library picture will be on your card!
September is national Library Card Sign-Up Month... and a library card is the most important school supply you can get. Make sure everyone in your family has one!
