Library Remodeling
The Library's remodeling project will run from October 2012-January 2013. It encompasses the Adult Services Room and the lower level entry. Updates will be posted here. Click on the links to the right to read FAQs, find out about our projected timeline, and view drawings of the remodel.
Our New Lower Level Entrance is Open
The lower level entry is open! Our new entry is beautiful and it will bring us much needed relief from the cold winds that used to waft up the stairway whenever the door was opened. Thank you for your patience - we think the wait was worth it, and we hope you do, too.

The window glass has been installed in the study rooms. We are still waiting for the doors. |

The new computer furniture is in place and the wiring has begun. The desks will have electricity and network cabling built-in for easy staff access. |

The new staff area is coming together nicely, too. |
Tuesday. Dec. 18: We Can See the Light!
The "end of the tunnel" is finally in focus. The Adult services room was closed today and will be again tomorrow as the rest of the carpeting is laid in the room. The construction wall is gone and the study rooms are in view.
While we are still waiting for the study room windows and doors we can finally see what they will look like. The new office space has been painted and is almost ready for the furniture. New data cables have been strung and will be connected to the server room in the lower level within the next several days.
Looks like we are on target to be finished next month.

Thursday, November 29: Progress!
Check out the photos below, and you'll see the amazing progress that's taken place in the last week! Drywall is now up, giving us a better idea of what the final product will look like, and we're certainly looking foward to less grinding, sawing, and clanging in the upcoming weeks! Thanks to everyone who's been patient with us while we undergo this remodeling. We know the end result will be worth the (growing) pains of this project.
What you don't see in these photos is the staff offices, which are hidden behind the study rooms and Digital Media Lab. That area is closed off to us for the time being. We have remodel drawings available, too, which should give you a clear sense of what things will look like when construction is finished.

Here's the entry to the Digital Media Lab. For noise reduction, the DML will not have glass walls, like the study rooms, but will have a small window, as seen in the next photo. |

The construction crew is hard at work putting up the metal framing for the staff office, study rooms, and digital media lab! In fact, it's been pretty loud in the Adult Services Room as they saw through the metal, as many visitors can attest. Soon they should be moving on to installing the drywall. Progress!!

There's been plenty of noise lately at the library! Workers have been preparing the floors and the walls for further changes:

Wednesday, October 31: Happy Halloween and Good-bye to Carpeting!
If you've visited us lately, you've noticed that the Adult Services Room is a bit louder lately. Construction workers have removed the Group Study area walls, along with the carpeting in the staff office/Computer Lab portions of the room (that's the area behind the wall that's been erected in the middle of the Adult Services Room).

Hello and Welcome!
Welcome to our Remodeling Blog!
Construction is going strong in the Adult Services Room and at the lower level entrance. The walls you see in the photos below are not permanent, but are used to separate the areas being remodeled from the rest of the library. These photos were taken on October 23 & 24.

This is a behind-the-scenes look at the work that's going on in the Adult Services Room. The plastic covering prevents dust from entering the other areas of the library. They're working on demolishing the old staff office and creating new ones, along with study rooms and a digital media lab. |
