April is National Poetry Month

This event is free and all are encouraged to attend and participate by reading a favorite poem. 

Please join us to hear our residents, local celebrities and notables read their favorite poems.  The public is encouraged to participate by bringing a favorite poem that they can read.

If you’d like to read a poem, please follow these simple guidelines when reading your favorite poem:

  • State your name
  • State the name of the poem and the author
  • Tell the audience why this poem resonates with you
  • A “favorite poem” cannot be written by a family member or friend
  • If it’s a long poem, please read an excerpt (maximum of 5 minutes)

The Highland Park Public Library provides library meeting space as a community service. The Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event nor the presenting organization.
