Item Checkout limits per library card

• Twenty (20) total DVDs or Blu-Ray items
• Four (4) Youth dept. video games
• Four (4) Adult dept. video games
• Ten (10) interlibrary loan (ILL) requests or items

Items for Highland Park Public Library cardholders only

• New Adult Audiobooks
• Youth 21-Day New Books
• Kill-A-Watt meters
• Hot Picks books
• Adult Video Games—cardholder must be present to check out

Non-CCS Reciprocal Patrons Checkout limits

• Two (2) New YS Audiobooks
• Twenty-five (25) items
• Highwood Residents may check out STEM kits and Ukuleles at the Membership services desk only.

Renewals

All checked-out items may be renewed once (including vacation loans), except for 28-Day items which may be renewed two (2) times. Renewal period is for the same period as the initial checkout. Items are now automatically renewed when applicable.

Items that cannot be renewed:

• Items with holds
• Hot Picks books
• New DVDs and Blu-Rays
• Curriculum materials

Vacation Loans

Up to six (6) weeks, limited to ten (10) items, and are renewable. Vacation loans are for items with 28-Day or 21-Day loan periods.

Interlibrary Loans

Up to ten (10) items may be requested or received at one time.

Nook

Must be 8 years old to check out a Nook. Nooks are available for checkout in the Youth Department. 

Reference

Reference materials do not circulate. Photocopies may be made in compliance with copyright laws.

Fees

If an item has been overdue for 45 days, it is assumed to have been lost and the cardholder will be charged the cost of the item. These same fees apply if an item is returned with damage.

Fines may be paid in person or online with a credit card.

Vacation loans are for old books (i.e. not in the "New" sections) only.  No other loan periods or formats are available for vacation loans. Ask for a Vacation Loan when checking out at the Membership Services desk.
