February 28, 2020 marks the 50th Anniversary of when Simon & Garfunkel's song Bridge Over Troubled Water reached #1, where it would remain for 1 1/2 months. The song marked the height of Simon & Garfunkel's success and is still beloved today. Often considered the thinking person’s rock ‘n’ rollers, Simon & Garfunkel were one of the most successful musical duos in history. Using audio and visual content, Gary Wenstrup, adjunct professor at Oakton Community College, will trace the arc of Simon & Garfunkel’s career from their surprise teenybopper hit Hey Schoolgirl, to the folk-rock classic The Sound of Silence, to the ever popular Mrs. Robinson, and finally to the majesty of Bridge Over Troubled Water, Paul Simon's love song about friendship.
