Explore the rise and fall of the fabled MGM studios with four film musicals: Babes in Arms, Meet Me in St. Louis, Singin' in the Rain, and The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
The film for this program will be Babes in Arms, a 1939 film version of the 1937 coming-of-age Broadway musical of the same title. Directed by Busby Berkeley, it is the second film to pair Judy Garland with Mickey Rooney as Andy Hardy. Babes concerns a group of children of vaudevillians who want to prove their own talent and make it to Broadway. All this, and Guy Kibbee, too. Let’s put on a show!
