Food as Medicine
The leading causes of death in the US are diet-related diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and some types of cancer. ‘Diet-related’ means these diseases are caused, in part, by a lifetime of not-so ideal food choices. It also means that they can be prevented-or even reversed-with proper food choices. In this ‘Food as Medicine’ series, Registered Dietitian Courtney Mayszak, RDN, LDN, will focus on treating chronic disease with real food. We’ll discuss how to eat to reduce your need for medication and add years to your life. Because weight gain increases risk of chronic disease, we’ll also dedicate a class to overcoming chronic dieting and achieving long-term, deprivation-free weight loss.
