The Friends of the Highland Park Public Library

Friends of the Highland Park Public Library is a volunteer organization dedicated to enhancing the Library since 1988. By becoming a Friend of the Library you can help support the Highland Park Public Library.

With contributions from community members and book sales throughout the years, we have been able to fund programs, services, items, and new technology above and beyond the Library’s budget.

In recent years, the Friends have helped support:

Literary and cultural programming

Funding book and film discussions, theatrical programs, exhibits, and concerts has been a cornerstone of the Friends’ support. Such support has enabled the Library to offer programs that enrich, enlighten, and inform the community.

Special furnishings and equipment for the Library

With a recent gift, the Friends provided a mobile technology unit for the Youth Department’s new middle school and activity rooms. The new equipment will be used for everything from incorporating technology into storytime sessions and other programming to movie showings, virtual author visits, and gaming events.

Technology

Thanks to the Friends, the Youth Department now features a special computer that supports early literacy skills for young children. To further support literacy, the Friends of the Library also funded iPads that feature early literacy games for parents to use in the Library with their children.

With your support the Friends can continue to enhance the Library for you, your family, your neighbors, and our community.
