At the Library on Monday, October 15, 2018 - 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Arne Duncan will be joined in conversation with Kate Grossman, senior editor at WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Kate Grossman oversees education coverage.
Arne Duncan was one of the longest-serving members of President Barack Obama’s cabinet. He has spent nearly three decades working across all levels of education, from his mother’s after-school program on Chicago’s South Side to CEO of the Chicago Public Schools. Duncan discusses his new book, How Schools Work: An Inside Account of Failure and Success from One of the Nation's Longest-Serving Secretaries of Education, that throws a spotlight on teachers, principals, reformers, staffers, businesspeople, mayors, and presidents who have helped and hindered the education of America's children.
Books will be for sale and the event will conclude with a book signing.
Sponsored by the Elizabeth L. Joksimovic Foundation
