More Books, Movies, and Music!  

We're welcoming the Vernon Area Public Library to our library consortium, a network that shares materials and is growing to include 32 libraries.  

This means more books, movies, and music will be available. Over 179,700 items will be added to the catalog, increasing the collection you can access with your Highland Park Public Library card (HPPL) to over 5.4 million! Also, your HPPL card will automatically be registered at the Vernon Area Library. 

Adding these libraries will limit some services from Friday, August 29 – Tuesday, September 2.

Here's what to expect: 

  • Checkouts: You can check out items, but we will need your library card. Don't forget it at home!  
  • Holds: Place your holds before August 29. Let us know if you need help while the system is down, and we will assist you!  
  • Extended Due Dates: Keep your items a little bit longer! We will automatically extend your due dates so that nothing is due during this period. Plus, we are a fine-free library!   
  • Returns: Items you return from August 29 – September 2 will not be checked in until after September 3.  
  • Account Access: Your account will be accessible; however, the information you see will be outdated, and no modifications can be made until after September 3.  
  • Searching the Catalog: Online results will be accessible, but they will not be current. If you are looking for an item, call us to check its availability.

Damos la bienvenida a la Biblioteca Pública del Área de Vernon a nuestro consorcio de bibliotecas (CCS), una red que comparte materiales que ahora crecerá a 32 bibliotecas. Esto significa que habrá más libros, películas y música disponibles. 

¡Se agregarán más de 179,700 artículos al catálogo, lo que aumentará la colección a la que puede acceder con su tarjeta de Highland Park Public Library (HPPL) a más de 5.4 millones! Además, su tarjeta HPPL se registrará automáticamente en la Biblioteca del Área de Vernon.

  • Devoluciones: Los artículos que devuelva entre el 29 de agosto y el 2 de septiembre no se registrarán hasta después del 1 de octubre.
  • Acceso a la cuenta: Su cuenta será accesible; sin embargo, la información que verá estará desactualizada y no se podrán realizar modificaciones hasta después del 3 de septiembre.
  • Búsqueda en el catálogo: Los resultados en línea estarán disponibles, pero no estarán actualizados. Si está buscando un artículo, llámenos para verificar su disponibilidad.
