The CSO violinist performs pieces including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Summertime," "Amazing Grace," and "Lift Every Voice and Sing" interspersed with selected works by J.S. Bach.
Like all of us, long-time Chicago Symphony Orchestra violinist Baird Dodge struggled to adjust to the pandemic shutdown. In the spring, whenever the temperature nosed above 60 degrees, he played for his Chicago neighbors, socially distanced on their fire escapes, and as spring turned to summer, he performed at rallies for racial justice.
Please join us as Baird shares again the music that he played then: solo violin arrangements including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Summertime,” “Amazing Grace.” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing” interspersed with selected works by J.S. Bach, as some of our most universal and timeless music comprises an unusual time capsule.
