Bob Coscarelli, professor emeritus at College of Lake County, introduces the film and leads the discussion after the showing.
When her family moves to a new town, eleven-year-old Margaret makes new friends, and with them, anticipates a series of 'firsts' as they approach adolescence. Margaret also embarks on a spiritual journey, questioning what her beliefs are, as her Christian mother and Jewish father have always left that decision up to her. A faithful adaptation of Judy Blume's 1970 award-winning yet oft-challenged book, Kelly Fremon Craig directed this 2023 film starring Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret, Rachel McAdams as her mother, and Kathy Bates as her grandmother.
