Highland Park Public Library

Lower-Level Meeting Room/Auditorium

The North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic, Highland Park Public Library, and Highwood Library and Community Center invite you to Share Your Story.

June is dedicated to sharing the stories of the immigrants that make America what it is today and supporting diversity in our nation. Every family has an immigration story or knows someone who is an immigrant. We sure do! The North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic, Highland Park Public Library, and Highwood Library and Community Center invite you to Share Your Story.

What brought you or your family to the United States? Who was the first person in your family to immigrate to the Unites States? What country did you come from? Whether you are a recent immigrant, or your family has been in America for generations, you and/or your family will have an opportunity to share your immigrant story.
Please bring photos and recipes to share too!

Stories Around Food
What is your family’s most beloved recipe? Who was the first to make it? What are its roots? Write down a family recipe and bring it to us for our Stories Around Food wall. Some recipes will be chosen to be highlighted on the Library and NSLAC website and social media.

Photos and Stories
Bring a copy of a photo (only copies will be accepted as they will not be returned) and a brief description of your story (200 words or less). Please include your name, email, phone number and address. Your story, name, and photo could be highlighted on the NSLAC website and social media.
