Book-a-Librarian


We provide one-on-one technology and reference assistance for Highland Park Public Library cardholders by appointment. Request an appointment by filling out the online form below. You will be contacted within 3 business days after initial request to schedule a time for your session.

Typical Book-a-Librarian sessions may include:

  • How to use and download Library electronic resources such as eAudiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines, music and/or video 
  • Intro to Library resources, the Library catalog or the Library website 
  • Help finding your next book or author to read 
  • How to research a topic using the Library's online databases 
  • Other questions you may have about computers, computer programs or the internet 

What is the procedure for Book-a-Librarian?

  • Book-a-Librarian is a service for Highland Park Public Library adult cardholders
  • Sessions are usually for 30-60 minutes
  • An appointment is required
  • You may have up to one session a week

How do I schedule a session?

Complete the online form with as much information as possible. Let us know what you would like help with and what day and time of day are most convenient for you. A Library staff memeber will get in touch with you to discuss your topic and to schedule a session.

I need to cancel my session. What’s the best way to do this?
Send an email to newmeddept@hplibrary.org. We will help you reschedule your session.

Where do I go for my Book-a-Librarian session?
